The following programs are offered Free of Charge.
Afternoon Movie - Thursdays, 1:00 p.m. or "Oldies but Goodies" Movie - Fridays, 12:30 p.m. - Spend the afternoon with us watching favorite movies. Look for listings on the back of our monthly calendar.
Alzheimer Support Group - 2nd Thursday of the month, 1:00 pm. - Gertrude Cathey, Rn
facilitates this support group for the caregivers to share information and learn
about resources.
Aphasia Support Group - Fridays, 10:00 am - Dr. Nick Mikula facilitates this support group
for families dealing with aphasia.
Art Club - Tuesdays, 1:00-3:00 p.m. - This informal gathering allows members to share their skills or learn techniques from others. This class is free but once a month a guest artist will run a workshop for a nominal fee.
Bereavement Support - Tuesdays, 10:00 p.m. - Anna DiMeo provides support for those who have experienced loss of health, relationship and/or death of a loved one. 1-on-1 or group counseling is available. Call for an appointment.
Bible Study - Thursdays, 12:30 pm - Deacon John DiMeo, who has studies
the bible for many years, leads this informal group.
Blood Pressure Screening - 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month, 10:30 am -
Gertrude Cathey, RN. No charge and no appointment necessary.
Book discussion - Last Friday of the Month, 1:30 p.m. - Joan Velez facilitates this monthly discussion. Books chosen are available at the Rutherford Library.
Bridge - Tuesdays, 12:30 pm - Experienced and intermediate Bridge players are welcome and encouraged to join. There is no charge, but you must be a member of the center.
Canasta & Rummikub - Wednesdays, 11:00-1:00 & Saturdays 10:00-12:00 - This informal meeting allows participants to play cards or a fun twist on the traditional rummy card game. Instruction handouts are available.
Computer Club - The computer lab is available for practice on days and times when computer classes are not running. In addition, on Thursdays at 3:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:00 a.m., high school students are available to answer your questions. You must be a member of 55 Kip Center to participate. Non-members must pay a $2.00 fee per visit.
Creative Writing - Thursdays 9:00 a.m. - Bill Brooks is available to help those who love to write poems and stories.
Current Events Discussion Group - Tues/Thurs, 10:15 am - Join Deacon John DiMeo
for an informal discussion on local news and world events. Exercise your mind and share your thoughts, opinions and knowledge on various subjects.
Hispanic club - Currently being formed; Check back for lastest information.
Knitting/Crocheting - Thursday, 1:00 p.m. - This informal gathering allows participants to share their skills or learn techniques from others. Bring your own wool or use ours; keep your finished product or donate them to us to give to various hospitals. Also on Tuesdays, 1:00 at Rutherford Senior Mansion.
Quilting Club - Wednesdays, 11:00-1:00 p.m. - This informal class teaches various techniques of both appliqué and quilting.
Walking Club - Mondays, 10:00 a.m. - The first meeting will be on Monday, September 11th at Tryon Field then every Monday under the supervision of volunteer Evelyn Barbieri.

Aerobics (1) - Tues/Thurs, 9:00 a.m. - Designed for older adults to improve their cardio-vascular system, increase muscular strenght, and endurance with the use of free weights, dynabands, and easy to follow routines. Instructor: Jannette Large, Certified Fitness Instructor $48.00
Aerobics (2) - Tues/Thurs, 10:00 a.m. - Same as 9:00am classes.
Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program - Tues/Thurs, 12:30 p.m. - Uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility and range of motion. Anna Gramlich, a certified Arthritis Foudnation instructor leades this program to maintain muscle strength and increase overall stamina. $48.00
Body Strengthening - Wed/Fri - 9:00a.m. - Anna Gramlich leads this class, which uses a combination of weights and bands in a variety of exercises to improve overall muscle strength, posture, and balance. This is a 1 hr. class with standing and sitting exercises. Cost: $24 per hour per week, up to 1-1/2 hrs. 2 times a week
Chair Aerobics - Tues/Thurs, 11:00 a.m. - This exercise class, led by Janette Large, is easy on the joints and offers strengthening and weight exercises, stretching, and flexibility. One or two pound weights are reccomended but not necessary. Dynabands are provided for resistance exercises. $48.00
Computer Class Level 1 - Tuesdays, 12:00-2:00 a.m. or Thursdays, 9:00-11:00 a.m. - Anna Kressaty teaches this class, which begins with "how to turn on the computer". This is a 6 week session, 2 hours each with a maximum of 8 people per class. We reserve the right to cancel classes if we do not meet the minimum number of students required $50.00
Computer Class Level 2 - Tuesdays, 9:00-11:00 a.m. or Thursdays, 12:00-2:00 p.m. - For those who have competed Annie's Level 1 class or who are familiar with computer basics. 6 week session, 2 hours each with a maximum of 8 people per class. We reserve the right to cancel classes if we do not meet the minimum number of students required $50.00
Dancercise - Fridays, 11:30a.m. - Pat Clark, owner/director/instructor at Uptown dance in Belleville, teaches a fun, low-impact, and energetic exercise program using upbeat, easy to follow dance routines. $24.00
Men's Fitness - Tues/Thurs, 1:30 p.m. - This class is designed for men only to improve cardiovascular system, increase muscle strength, and endurance. (Men are always welcome to join any of our other fitness classes). Instructors are provided by the Meadowlands Hospital Life Span Program. $48.00
Salsa Classes - Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. - Pat Clark teaches the basic combinations of Latin dances, with or without a partner, to upbeat Latin tunes. $24.00
T'ai Chi Chih - Wednesdays, 12:30 p.m. - This class combines agile steps, join aware exercises, and mental strength to improve mobility, breathing, and relaxation. Taught by a certified instructor. $24.00
Tap Classes - Fridays, 12:30 p.m. - This class for beginners teaches tap steps with a jazz twist which are put to music. You must bring or purchase tap shoes. Tap shoes are also available for purchase from Pat Clark, instructor. $24.00
Yoga - Wed/Fri, 1:30 p.m. or Thursdays, 7:00 p.m. - This class explores a series of poses which enhcnaes physical and mental well being, as well as relaxing and restoring vitality, releasing tension in the neck, head, and shoulders.
